Pub's hanging baskets stolen

PUB landlord Rick Sainty reckoned he had the Old Spot Inn, formerly the Fox and Hounds, in May Lane, Dursley, all spruced up for summer with a coat of paint and lots of attractive hanging baskets and window boxes of flowers.

But the hanging baskets were hardly up when they were down again - whisked off by thieves.

"They were Victorian-style and made of black wrought iron - very distinctive," said an angry Mr Sainty who is appealing for information leading to their return.

"They cost me around £75 a pair. I went to water them one evening and found that two of them had gone," Mr Sainty added.

He thinks the thieves must have had a car because the baskets were too heavy to carry away.
