DURSLEY landlord Ric Sainty's distinctive face will be appearing on beer pumps around Britain as his namesake ale goes nationwide.

Licensee of the town's Old Spot Inn Mr Sainty, who is thought to be the only living publican with a beer named after him, will be made famous around Britain thanks to the Wetherspoons pub group.

For makers of Old Ric, the Uley Brewery, have clinched a deal to provide the beer as a guest ale.

Until now Uley made 4.5 abv premium best bitter Old Ric especially for Mr Sainty and his regulars in Dursley.

"Mr Sainty is famous for his big beard and philosophical gems," said Uley Brewery director Chas Wright.

"We are delighted this beer is going to pubs run without jukeboxes, flashing lights, televisions or noise - pubs very much like the Old Spot where people go for the
