Beery bangers hit the Spot!

REAL ale sausages are proving a big hit with punters at the Old Spot in Dursley.

WESTERN DAILY PRESS SATURDAY DECEMBER 7, 1996

The popular pub has teamed up with Berkeley butcher Fred Holpin to make the special spicy pork bangers to complement Uley Brewery's finest beer.

And the beer - called Old Ric - is named after the Old Spot's landlord Ric Sainty.

Landlady Ellie said: "Ric and Fred are both into subaqua and got chatting.

"It was while they were on holiday in Cuba that they hatched the plan over a couple of rums."

Fred delivers the meat and takes a bottle of Old Ric to put in the next batch of sausages.

Ellie added: "We do lunchtime snacks and the sausages go down well in a baguette or in sandwiches.

"They are on sale in Fred's shop too."
