Thank You ...
First off big thank you to all our regulars over the festive season. I know it was busy and I appreciate your patience and loyalty when things just seemed to go from utter madness to completely barmy! Both New Year's Eve and Xmas Eve were excellent nights and again my apologies to all those unfortunate soles that turned up after 9pm and were turned away.
It was great seeing everyone on our New Year's Day party, even though 'open mic night' didn't quite go according to plan, much fun, free beer, wine, and food was had!
The Old Gits Xmas party was another great day with various members of staff cavorting with each other in what I can only describe as eye opening!
Back to the Grindstone
Again we have to say goodbye to Cordy, Jordan and Louis, who have returned to Uni but Easter is only around the corner, so they'll soon be back!
Welcome back Brigid (right) - everybody's favourite springbok is back behind the bar!
90 and Not Out!
A big belated happy birthday to Laurie, who had his 90th birthday last month in the pub. May we wish him many happy returns.

Evening Meals
I know this is not going to please a lot of people; but we have decided not to recommence evening meals this year. Instead we are going to focus all our efforts on theme and party nights. We found last year that a lot of customers got confused with our times and couldn't understand why we weren't doing food on Fri/Sat night, and why we stopped at 8pm. Trying to explain that we were too busy with people wanting to sup their favourite brews didn't always go down so well.
Theme Nights
On the subject of theme nights the next one will be our "Back to School Night" on the 12th of May. The evening includes a four-course evening meal loosely based on your 'favourite' school lunches with a free bottle of wine for every pair of well dressed 'students'. Count on loads of homework, over-zealous prefects - and corporal punishment will be dished out as and when necessary! Click here for the menu.
Registration starts at 7.30pm and your detention will end at 11.30pm!
Book by 01/03/09 for free wine offer!
