Old Spot Newsletter

Welcome to the March Newsletter ...

Welcome to our March Newsletter. We feel that we just put Christmas to bed and we are already saying hello to Easter. I suppose it's a sign of age when you find yourself saying with more frequency, "Where does the year go?".

Congratulations

Before we get stuck into what's coming up, big congratulations to Brigid and Jamie Lack on their wedding; it was amazing day and Brigid was beautiful! All of us at the Spot wish Brigid and Jamie a long and very happy life together.

Tuesday 16th March - Celebrity Chef

Dean Boston is taking over as Celebrity Chef in March, with his take on Middle Eastern food. As always, it's £7.50 per head and please get in early as its gets booked up really quickly. All profits are being donated to St. James Church.

Sunday 14th March - Mother's Day

Don't forget Mother's Day is on Sunday, the 14th March. Lunchtime bookings are now being taken. Go on - treat your Mum to something special! [MENU ONLINE]

Saturday 20th March - Ric's Plaque

On the Sat 20th March at 3pm we will have the official unveiling of Ric's plaque. This if you remember, was funded by a few of our beloved CAMRA guys parting with their facial hair - a total of 90 years' worth went into the dustpan!

The plaque will be presented to Ellie, and I'm sure it will be quite emotional for many of us. It will be a special day, so please come along if you can make it.

Tuesday 30th March - Gourmet Night

As previously mentioned, we are going to be running a Gourmet Night for all our budding connoisseurs. Well, we now have a date (and a menu!) and it's all happening on Tuesday the 30th March. A classy evening, but evening dress is optional! My taste buds a watering already! [MENU ONLINE]

Friday 2nd April - Good Friday

Places for the Festival of Fish are filling up thick and fast. As always, the menu will depend on market availability on the day - Friday, April 2nd. This is truly one to behold - if you've never been, you've missed out, so try and make it this year.

Sunday 4th April - Easter Sunday

We will also running a special menu for Easter Sunday Lunch. The menus have been prepared and will available in and around the pub closer to the time, and they are already online. Please as always, book early to avoid disappointment - these things do get filled very quickly. [MENU ONLINE]

23rd - 25th April - St. George's Beerfest

Our next Old Spot beer festival will be "Beer Elections". Customers will be able to vote for their favourite beer and the top ten will then feature in the festival. Voting starts on the 15th March and finishes on the 28th March. The Beer Festival will be held between the 23rd and the 25th April over St. George's weekend. [MENU ONLINE (after the elections)]

Planned Summer Activities & Events

I have already been asked if we will be having more kayak trips this year, the answer is categorically YES, YES, YES!

Along with our cricket matches, paintballing, beer festivals, garden parties, charity quiz nights, celebrity chefs, meet the brewers, brewery tours, music events, the list goes on. We're all set for an action-packed year ahead - just keep your eyes on the boards inside, the newsletters or the website.
