The Very Last Boat Trip? Man!
It's the morning after the boat trip and "that's it", I'm never drinking again! I feel dreadful, but deep down I know it was worth it.
It was quite possibly the most unusual boat trip we've done with 90% of you dressing up for the part - Tewkesbury didn't know what had hit it! Although the weather held firm - there was no rain and even a little sunshine - the river was a torrent, so the skipper had to scupper our plans for the day.

. . . So we stayed moored, drank beer, ate, sung and generally made merriment for 4 hours ... life's hard! Big thanks to Eddie, Jenny and the crew for looking after us so well and giving us a sizeable refund, enough for an evening of beer, more food, more singing and yes, the making of more merriment!
Unfortunately that will be the last boat trip as "Tjalk", the Tewkesbury River Boat Company ceases to exist later this year ... but fret not - your entertainments tema is already looking into something new.
Staff Movements
We say bon voyage to Grace, Jordan and Lorna as they set off to university, but they will be returning at Christmas for more madness and mayhem.
The Old Spot's first 'Ric Fest'
Look out for our Ric-Fest on 14-16 Nov when we will be having a beer festival featuring all of Ric's favourite brews. Look out for the bar staff with new outfits and plenty of facial fluff and sporting multi-coloured waistcoats. Don't forget to join in and enjoy a bit of pomp and circumstance.
It will be a fancy dress event, so get your beards and waistcoats out - even you ladies out there! A free beer for all beards, and prizes for the best waistcoat.
Reverend Janet's Church Roof Fund

Total money raised this year through beers sales Reverend Janet and sale of T-shirts was £2,150. So again, thanks for your support and big thank you to Chas and the team at Uley Brewery - not only for donating free beer but for another outstanding brew!
Harvest Home
21st to 23rd September will see the autumn Equinox or harvest Moon or Mabon. In the past it was to honour the Green Man (not Si the woodman) and was seen as a time to reflect on the past season and celebrate nature's bounty and accept that summer is over. Harvest Homes is the Christian event called Michaelmas, the feast of the Archangel Michael. This was developed by the Victorians to stop the workers from being drunk and riotous for several days and gave rise to the organised Harvest Homes we see today.
Today Harvest Home can be found in children's TV with Muffin the Mule munching his oats, in charities for homeless pregnant women and of course the large harvest home loves.

Evening Meals
After the madness of this year things are slowing down, so the team are taking some well deserved time out. So, once again, evening meals will be temporarily postponed for the coming season, allowing us to take holidays, and Christmas being utter madness as always . . .
Food Times: Mon - Sun . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Normal service will resume in the New Year. If however, you have a special event coming up we would be more than happy to accommodate you. Please ask for Steve if you would like to discuss your private function.
